PALAEOLITHIC SCRAPER (B1).
PALAEOLITHIC IMPLEMENTS (B6).
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT PALAEOLITHS RECORDED UNDER CASS 01912 IN FACT COME FROM THIS AREA, AS RUTLAND WRITES ABOUT EXCAVATIONS BY GWR COMPANY IN WINDMILL FIELD, & THE FINDS FROM 01912 ARE MARKED GWR CUTTING, HITCHAM (B3,B12).



In 1882, a Palaeolithic scraper was found by Mr J Rutland in the low level drift in "Windmill" field at Hitcham; another pear-shaped scraper had recently been found in the same drift and is now in the Reading Museum (B1).

Windmill Field identified by Baynes at SU 921812. In 1730 a windmill stood on what is now the station-master's house (called Winhill) (B16).
