Description

Wendover mentioned 965 & 971 in will of Aelfheah, Alderman of Hants & Wilts. After Norman Conquest divided into manors of Wendover Borough & Wendover Forrens. Names linked with manor include Fiennes; Richard, Duke of York; Hampden & Smith (B1).
The survey carried out in the reign of James the II in 1607 notes that the hoestall or site of the vicarage lies between the 'personage' on the SE and the church on the NE. The holding is made up of a walled garden (two poles square) and two orchards (covering one rood) (B7).
No medieval or post-medieval features identified during evaluation trial trenching in grounds in advance of proposed new school buildings in August 2012 (B12).
