Description

Grade II. C17. Flint; reputed to have been used by Milton (B3).
In the SE part of the Grove [beechwoods enclosed by a ha-ha, with allees and serpentine paths, lying to the west of the canal] a grotto, date uncertain but known as 'Milton's Cave' (B9).
Condition survey carried out in October 2007 by Oxley Conservation concluded structure in a very poor condition and rapidly deteriorating, requiring urgent repairs. See report for detail (B11).
