Description
Hand axes found in brickearth and gravel (Taplow Terrace) of Langley Pit. 17 are pointed, lengths: 4 less than 4cm, 10 are 10-15cm, 3 are 15-21cm. Also 1 sub-cordate, 9cm long and 1 cordate, 13cm long. All rolled and stained, so prob from gravel layer. From Evans (British Museum) and Sturge (Ashmolean Museum) collections (B1,B3-4).
NGR to Langley Brick Works (B5).
Langley Marsh and Langley Brickworks, Wexham. The palaeoliths consist of 19 Acheulean handaxes, one cleaver and two Levaloisian flakes (B6).
