Description

ADJACENT TO SAXON CEMETERY 'IN CREST OF RIDGE' A FLINT KNIFE WITH NEOLITHIC/ EBA CROUCHED BURIAL (B3).
BURIAL WAS IN TRAPEZOIDAL PIT WHICH SURVIVED TO DEPTH OF 20-25CM. NO SIGN OF SURROUNDING DITCH OR COVERING MOUND. SKELETON WAS ON ITS LEFT SIDE, FACING E. ADULT. (PLAN & FURTHER DETAIL) (B4).
A NUMBER OF OBJECTS WERE FOUND WITH THE NEOLITHIC CROUCHED BURIAL INCLUDING COARSE FLINT GRITTED WARE SHERDS, BONES (OX?) & FLINT ARTEFACTS INCLUDING A KNIFE (ILLUS)(B3-4).
