Description

Grade II. Formerly Crown Hotel Dating originally from C16, now consisting of a tall C17-C18 block. 3 storeys, rough cast with bold cornice on gaits of plain brackets and hipped old tile roof. 5 bay front. Glazing partly altered. Small pediments over 2nd floor windows. Modern shops on ground floor. The building has associations with literary celebrities and was the meeting place of the Omar Khayyam Club. The Crown Hotel, Nos 4 and 5 form an important group at the north-west end of High Street](B6).
