Description

Mound on which church stands sometimes described as artificial (B8).
Waterpipe trench cut Nov 1972, showed only 0.6m of topsoil, then natural hard chalk. Clearly mound is natural (B7).
Watching brief on trial pits at church in October 1998 confirmed mound is natural chalk (B11).
NGR to church (B5).
