According to Peter Gullands extensive study of The Toll Roads of Buckinghamshire 1706-1881 with their connections into neighbouring counties 2017. This is on The Wendover to Buckingham Turnpike Road 1721 p.99 road 5. Stretches from junction of Aylesbury Road and Wharf Road Wendover to Bridge Street Buckingham. Milestones initiated by initial act of 1742 Jefferys map shows a whole set of milestones from Aylesbury 36 in Aylesbury Road Wendover to London 56 near Tesco Buckingham. During WW2 through out country milemarkers were removed for security reasons sometimes not replaced or put back in wrong place. According to PG this one of 116 modern records out of possible 230 milemarkers in Bucks from historical sources. After the trusts closed in in 1880s and 1890s parish or district or county replaced missing milemarkers on some roads with what the Milestones Society calls Bucks Pressings standardised metal posts with two white faces and black lettering. This was on an important route to London extended eventually to Uxbridge under two new trusts see roads 7 and 8 in this publication. This 21 miles long all in this trust was formed in early 1751.
