MOUND MAY HAVE BEEN 1 OF THE 7 BURIAL MOUNDS MENTIONED IN LINSLADE CHARTER, AD966 (B9).
WAS KNOWN AS ROUNDHILL, BUT EARLIER AS HAWKESLOWE, WHICH DENOTES SAXON BURIAL MOUND OR MEETING PLACE. EXCAVATED AHEAD OF ROAD WIDENING; PRODUCED 1 ?C1 AD SHERD (B3).
MOUND HAD DISAPPEARED BY 1977 (B6).
