Description

A plaque made of three types of marble. The frame is Connemara marble, the plaque Sicilian marble and there is a black marble cross. There are badges of the West Kents, East Surreys, the Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry and the Royal Fusiliers along the base. The tablet is a replica of that to General Sir Henry Scobell in Capetown Cathedral. The plaque was made by Messrs Stubbs and Co, Masons and was unveiled on 4 August, 1918. The memorial is dedicated to 9 local people who were killed in action during WW1 (B1).
