Description

A brass plaque commemorating Admiral of the Fleet Sir Roger John Brownlow Keyes Bt, 1st Baron of Zeebrugge and Dover GCB KCVO CMG DSO DCL LLD MP GC Order of Leopald, Legion of Honour, Croix de Guerre DSM who died on 26 October 1945, having served in the Royal Navy in China 1900, WW1 and WW2. He was First Chief of Combined Operations and died as a result of his injuries received during active service in the Far East. Also commemorates his eldest son, Lt Colonel Geoffrey Charles Tasker Keyes VC MC Croix de Guerre, of the Royal Scots Greys and 11th Scottish Commando. Killed in action on 18 November 1941 leading the raid on General Rommel's HQ , Sidi Rafa Liya. The plaque was part of Lord Keyes' old flagship HMS Warspite. The plaque was erected by friends and the Royal Navy Old Comrades Association (B1).
