Medieval village shrinkage earthworks is visible on historic aerial photograph and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in fields extending W from Dunton Manor and N of Manor Farm in Dunton village and centred at SP 82179 24344, the earthworks comprise a network of interconnected boundary ditches that form contiguous rectilinear enclosures and platforms roughly aligned NW-SE/NE-SW. These extend into a field south of the main road. Skirting the surrounding blocks of ridge and furrow cultivation are sinuous hollow ways or trackways, aligned NW-SE or SW-NE. There is a large pond N of Dunton Manor and at least five other ponds or possible extraction pits. On aerial photographs taken in 2022 and recent remote sensing data, the earthworks remain visible, though the large pond immediately N of Dunton Manor has been substantially enlarged so that its original extent as mapped from aerial photographs taken in the 1940s is no longer visible (5-11).
