Conservation Area designated on 16th October 1991 and revised 11th February 2020. See review document (B1).
'Horwood' is first mentioned in legal documents in a charter of 792, renewed in 948, which granted King Offa's estates in Winslow, Little Horwood, Granborough and possibly Shipton to St Alban's Abbey (B2-3).
