'Whelpley' is first mentioned in 13th century legal documents (B1).
The hamlet comprises a few cottages with the school and a Baptist chapel, and the outlying farms of Whelpley Hill, Sales, Spencers, Hemings and Moors (B2).
'Whelpley Hill' is marked on OS maps from 1812 onwards (B3).
