Description

A small number of widely dispersed Middle to Late Bronze age pits and possible field boundary sections were located along the former line of the Rusholt Brook, within the Phase 5 and Phase 1B areas. These features are in addition to a scatter of small isolated Late Bronze Age features found during the evaluation of the Phase 5 area and which were within the vicinity of the northern group found in the recent work…However, no evidence was found along the access road for a second concentration of possible Bronze Age features found during the evaluation. Despite a low level background spread of Romano-British pottery being recovered during the evaluation, only one Romano-British feature, a ditch, was identified within the Phase 1B and 5 areas…the relatively small number of surviving prehistoric/Romano-British features, together with the low level of associated finds, does make it difficult to firmly interpret the nature of activity, domestic or otherwise, which was focused along the line of the Rusholt Brook (B1).
