According to Peter Gullands extensive study of The Toll Roads of Buckinghamshire 1706-1881 with their connections into neighbouring counties 2017 this is on the The Wendover and Buckingham Turnpike Road 1721 road 5 p.99. This was 21 miles long and all in Bucks it stretched from the junction of Aylesbury and Wharf Road Wendover to Bridge Street just to north of London Rosd in Buckingham. These were stone pyramidal top with carved inscriptions on faces facing road. These are modern records out of 116 out of a possible 230 milemarkers in the county from old sources. These stones were never replaced en masse so their replacements that do not match there are 15 left 10 on western side and 5 scattered randomly on east side of road. During WW2 milemarkers thoughout the country were moved for security reasons sometimes not replaced or put back in same place. After the Trusts closed in the 1880s and 1890s on some roads parish or county or district replaced missing milemarkers with what the Miletones Society calls Bucks Pressings standardised metal posts with two white faces and black inscriptions. On Jefferys map of 1766 there are 21 mileposts on the road after an act to get the milestones done. They then moved all the milestones 330 yards north because of shortening of distance to London fom trusts further south in 1835.There was a milestone London 57 at junction at Broughton Road Buckingham the then vanished after 1835.
