Description

Buildings report held at NMR (B1).
The halt at Westcott opened in 1871, the original earth bank was later replaced by a low wooden platform. The station was a request stop, with a small wooden office/waiting room. At Westcott, permanent staff were employed to operate the level-crossing gates (B2).
A station building is shown on the first edition 25-inch OS map. From 1900 a second building is shown adjacent to the northeast, which appears to be the building shown in a photo of about 1920 in B2. This second building appears to still survive. A pair of workers' cottages to the south of the station halt, were presumably built to house the crossing keeper and station staff. Date plaques in the front gables read B&C (Buckingham and Chandos) and 1871. The cottages are shown on the first edition 25-inch OS map (B3).
