Description

Possible chalk-lined underground cistern or well recorded by National Trust following subsidence of part of lawn. The structure may have been of 15th century and was modified in the nineteenth century for use as a soakaway. A terrier of 1607 records a number of additional buildings to the rear of the house, including a well house. See report for detail (B4).
