Description

Evaluation trial trenching carried out in the car park to the north of the house in March 2007 by Archaeology South-East identified the remains of a brick built cuilvert, a possible cellar wall and a single oit and posthole. The bricks used in the culvert and wall, along with brick fragments from the pit fill suggest a late 16th to early 18th century date, but all the brick seems to have been reused or residual and is suggested to have been retrieved following the demolition of the original house in the mid 18th century. See report for detail (B20).
