Description

This crane was originally housed in a timber yard at Mentmore (possibly at NGR) and comprises a fixed vertical post, supported by two wooden out-riggers. The post is mounted on a cast-iron base and is able to rotate. A wooden jib is attached to the post by a cast iron socket, and can be raised and lowered. A hand operated ratchet-winch, with brake, is attached to the post. A steel cable winds from this through a pulley on the end of the jib (B1).
