Description

Subsequent evaluation trial trenching carried out by John Moore Heritage Services in August 2004 identified the terminal and 2.5m length of a steep-sided, flat bottomed ditch at least 0.7m wide and 0.45m deep in Trench 5. A single sherd of late Romano-British pottery was recovered from the fill. A substantial colluvial deposit 1.3-1.5m thick was identified in Trenches 1, 2 and 4, filling a natural dry valley. Finds suggest that the colluvium formed during the prehistoric, Roman and possibly medieval periods (B2). NGR to Trench 5.
