Description

The English Heritage survey of Stowe undertaken in 2001 notes a large oak tree which has been felled and then regenerated from the stump giving the appearance of a coppice stool and a pollard. The girth suggests some 200 years old. As it stands on the edge of a scarp defining a track, the oak is interpreted as a waymarking tree of some antiquity. (1)
