Description

The English Heritage survey of Stowe undertaken in 2001 lists the earthwork remains of a pond at this lcoation. The pond takes the form of a sub-rectangular hollow, 30m long x 16m wide x 0.3m deep. A tree hole is situated at the southern end and the area generally is marshy. The survey also notes that the pond is depicted on the 1843 estate map in the centre of a large clump of trees with the Conduit House on the western edge. (21)
To the south of the pond there is an ovoid depression and a linear scape believed to be the remains of quarrying. (18)
