Description

The English Heritage survey of Stowe undertaken in 2001 notes several small hollows and tree stumps and two oak trees as the remains of an ornate planting shown on the 1843 estate map, but shown as incomplete on the OS map of 1880. The survey suggests that the trees were probably felled for the timber sales in the mid 19th century. (20).
