Description
The National Trust's Survey of Stowe undertaken in 1989 lists this location for a 20ft obelisk dedicated to the Reverand Coucher, chaplain to a regiment of Dragoons commanded by Lord Cobham. The obelisk is likely to have been designed by Vanburgh, built in 1719 and removed in the late 1740s (18).
