Description

The National Trust's Survey of Stowe undertaken in 1989 notes the dam at the lower end of Copper Bottom Lake is the causeway for the 1760s drive, now the Dadford Road. The lower pond and stream drain into the porous sub soil. It is marked on the 1845 Tithe Map but the lower lake had dried up in the 1880s. There is a sluice and brick culvert under the road in fairly good condition (B18).
