Description

The National Trust's Survey of Stowe undertaken in 1989 noted a sunken path terminating in the N with a mound behind the Temple of Ancient Virtue. Thought to have been created to a design by Kent to create carefully planned 'views' and a dark backdrop setting for the temple (B18).
