Description

Brief description of lost garden features (B7).
The National Trust's Survey of Stowe undertaken in 1989 notes that this is the former site of the Guglio, an obelisk/fountain, that once stood in the middle of Bridgeman's original formal Octagon lake. The fountain was constructed in 1719 and was designed by Vanburgh. It was later dismantled and re-used to make Wolfe's Obelisk (B18).
