Description

Brief mention of lost garden features (B7).
The National Trust Survey of Stowe undertaken in 1989 notes that a simple plunge pool built in 1724 (possibly designed by Vanburgh) was located in this vicinity. The feature was probably filled in which a new cold bath was created inside the Temple of Contemplation in 1772-9. Documentary sources also give its location SW of the Octagon Lake at SP67663694 (B18).
