Description

The field contains a limestone metalled track leading towards the edge of the Stowe landscaped gardens. A house platform was also visible and interpreted as part of the former Lamport settlement which may extend further south than the surviving earthworks suggest. The pottery finds (62 sherds) shows a concentration of medieval wares around the house platform and a low density spread across the rest of the field suggests an open field system. Three sherds of early medieval pottery were also retrieved from the northern part of the field (B1).
