  • (Former Type) STEAM MILL (19th Century to Modern - 1800 AD to 1999 AD)

Description

Victorian County History notes that steam is employed when insufficient water prevents waterpower being utilised (B6,B20).
1939 Kelly's Directory suggests that the mill stopped working 1932 (B12).
In 1969, the complex was described as containing the remains of the empty shell of a tower mill, the remains of an auxilliary steam powered mill and a watermill (B8).
A site visit in 1977 revealed that the water and windmills have been coverted to houses. The wooden building at the eastern end of the complex, which once housed the steam engine, remained standing but was derelict (B11).
