WATCHING BRIEF ON DIGGING OF INSPECTION TRENCH TO ALLEVIATE DAMP IN CHANCEL IDENTIFIES ROUGHLY FACED STONE PLINTH SOME 2M SHORT OF PRESENT EAST WALL OF CHANCEL. POSSIBLY FOUNDATIONS OF EARLIER, SHORTER & UNBUTTRESSED, CHANCEL? (B7).
Watching brief notes early footings which indicated that the chancel, said to have been rebuilt during the restoration, may also have been extended at that time (B8).
