Description
SHOWN ON AP1 DITCHED ENCLOSURES/WATER MANAGEMENT IN FIELD SW OF NOTLEY ABBEY. ALSO VISIBLE ON 1934 OBLIQUE AP, FIELD SHOWN STIPPLED ON 1ST ED OS (B22).
EARTHWORK SURVEY AT 1:2500 IDENTIFIES BUILDING PLATFORMS, BOUNDARY DITCHES, ETC INTERPRETED AS TRACES OF INTERNAL LAYOUT WITH INNER & OUTER PRECINCTS (B23).
SALVAGE EXCAVATION AFTER PIPELINE WORKS DISTURBED A BURIAL ALIGNED NORTHWEST-SOUTHEAST, WITH HEAD AT NORTH. UNDISTURBED BONE WAS LEFT IN SITU. BURIAL ADJACENT TO INFILLED DITCH 0.90-1.0M DEEP AND 2.60M WIDE (B26).
