ABOUT 60 HORNCORES SAID TO HAVE BEEN EXPOSED IN THE BODY OF THE MOTTE. SENT TO DR I W CORNWALL, INSTITUTE OF ARCHAEOLOGY, LONDON, FOR COMMENT. A STACK OF HORNCORES USUALLY MEANS THE SITE OF A TANNERY THOUGH THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS TO THIS (B10).
