Description
566 MEDIEVAL SHERDS WERE LIFTED FROM THE EXCAVATED AREA. HARD, FINE SANDY BUFF, PINK & BROWN-COLOURED FABRICS, QUARTZ-TEMPERED, GROG-TEMPERED, SHELLY COARSE TYPES ALL RECORDED. MANY RIMS WERE OF C13/C14 WARES, ROULETTED, GLAZED & SLASHED JUG HANDLES. 2 PIECES OF C10/C11 ST NEOTS & SEVERAL C12 SHERDS NOTED. Pig metapodial with central rounded perforation found. Identified as a toggle for dress fastening, or a bobbin, or a musical playing piece (buzz bone) spun around on a loop of cord & probably of C13/C14 date. Also 82 fragments of animal bone (B7).
