Description

Grade II. Fountain. Early C18, the sculpture by Giuliano Mozani, re-arranged late C19. Late C19 shaped stone basin. Carved marble figures. Pluto and Proserpine to centre on an upturned shell, with flanking infant tritons on winged horses, encircled by six figures of tritons and other sea creatures holding conch shells. Originally part of a fountain at the Ducal Palance at Colorno, near Parma, together with statuary from the Fountain of Triton and Nereids. (1970 Waddesdon Manor sculpture catalogue No. 66) (B1).
