Description

Grade II. Gates, railings and piers at grand E. entrance to Waddesdon Park. Circa 1880-90. Probably by H.A. Destailleur for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild. Cast iron double gates with flanking single gates and railings curving forwards to form a wide segment, the railings with scrolled panels and finials, the gates having elaborate scrolled crests and Rothschild badges of 5 crossed arrows. Stone dwarf walls with moulded copings. Gate piers and terminal piers are of stone and have vermiculated blocks, fluted friezes with acanthus scrolls to corners, and pine cone finials (B1).
