Description

Dimensions - Length 46m, Width 44m.
Plan Form - Subsquare.
Deep moat encloses site of unknown building (B1).
Homestead moat & fishpond (B3).
Moat probably the site of former Brocas family manor house (B5).
Marked at NGR SP 91591749 (B6).

A sub-rectangular water filled homestead moat north of Manor House Cheddington. It measures c 42.0m square, with arms 10.0m wide. The interior is raised c 1.0m above the surrounding level but there is no trace of a building. An embayed supply pond to the south could have been used as a fish pond. The Manor House is C16th but not outstanding. Published survey (25") revised. No change to report of 6.6.73. AM survey correct (B8).
