Description
IN DIGGING DRAIN FOR COTTAGE, ELBOURN, BRICKLAYER'S LAD, BROKE A SMALL VESSEL (00:001) CONTAINING C.200 GOLD COINS (00:002). LATIMER MANOR COURT ROLLS NOV .1705 RECORD ANOTHER COIN HOARD, SILVER, FOUND BY TOKEFIELD, A LABOURER, IN A LEAD-COVERED PIPKIN (00:00 3)(B1,B4-5).
NGR OF 1888 HOARD FROM MAP (B3).
A hoard of about 200 gold coins, none dated later than Charles I were found in 1888 during digging a drain at Tyler's Hill (SP 981018). Many of the coins were lost but 44 were retained and given to the Treasury (B5).
