Description

POSSIBLE SITE OF THE 'HUNDRED TREE' (HUNDRYTHE TREOWE) MENTIONED IN UPPER WINCHENDON BOUNDARY CHARTER OF AD 1004. PRESUMABLY ANCIENT MEETING PLACE OF THE HUNDRED OF WADDESDON, STILL IN USE 1004. BUT SOON AFTER 1007 HUNDREDS GROUPED INTO 3'S & TREE WOULD HAVE LOST SOCIAL SIGNIFICANCE (B1-3).
