BOTTOM LAYER (LAYER 4), VISIBLE IN DEEPEST PART OF CHANNEL. GREY-BROWN SAND WITH WOOD & ORGANIC MATERIAL. FINDS INCLUDED ANIMAL BONE: ROE DEER & CATTLE (INCL. DOMESTIC), BURNT FLINT & WORKED FLINT. MESOLITHIC FLINT PROB RESIDUAL, AS BONES SUGGEST NEOLITHIC OR LATER. SAMPLES TAKEN (B1).
