Description
FIELD W OF SURVEYED FISHPONDS (00:000) CONTAINS EARTHWORKS. 'DAM' E WITH LEVEL TOP POSSIBLY PART OF FORMAL WALKWAY OF C18, BUT SEEMS TOO GRAND FOR HOUSE. EARTHWORKS INCLUDE POSSIBLE LEAT COMING INTO W WALL OF KITCHEN GARDEN OF POND-CLOSE HOUSE. FARMER IS CARRYING OUT SOME INFILLING IN AREA (B4).
Water channels and earthwork banks of medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located at Pondclose House, Lillingstone Dayrell, and centred at SP 69955 39911. These water channels continue to further earthworks of banks and water channels forming fishponds in the adjacent parcel (see MBC1335). (7-14)
