THE MARKET-PLACE IS DISGRACED BY AN OLD TIMBER AND PLASTER MARKET-HOUSE (BI1). IN 1586 ELIZABETH BESTOWED...THE MARKET, 'PRETORIUM' AND THE CHAMBER OVER IT CALLED THE MOTEHALL IN THE MARKET ON JOHN FORTESCUE FOR 21 YEARS (BI2). MARKET HOUSE PULLED DOWN ABOUT 1840 (BI). NO EVIDENCE (BI)
