Description

Plan Form - Irregular.
The market-place, a clean, neat, irregularly built square, in the middle of the town (B1).
In 1234 Abbot of St. Albans received grant of a market on Thursdays. It continued to be held by the abbots until Dissolution. Market sold to Sir John Salden since when it has descended with the manor (B2).
