TRIAL EXCAV IN ADVANCE OF MOTORWAY TO LOOK AT EXTENT OF LACAILLE'S MESOLITHIC HORIZON (CASS 00842) NEARBY, & TO FIND PEAT FOR SAMPLING. DEPOSIT THIN & DISTURBED, BUT CALCAREOUS SHORELINE DEPOSIT SEEN. AREA NEARER RIVER LOOKED AT: THICK PEAT, BUT HAD UNDERGONE DRYING & UNSUITABLE FOR SAMPLING (B1).
