Fishponds and water channels of medieval/post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located east of the moat at Elmbrook Farm, Great and Little Kimble cum Mars, and centred at SP 81422 09321. Two long and narrow fishponds, one almost subrectangular, measuring 34x16m at its largest, and the other more rounded and curving, approximately 47m long and 14m wide, at its widest, can be seen approximately 100m to the east of the subrectangular moat at Elmbrook Farm (see MBC1301). Within the same field low earthworks of former boundaries or water channels and possible building platforms can also be seen. Modern land use, in the construction of a tennis court and a formal lawn area, has obscured or removed any further features in the area. These earthworks may be part of the former hamlet of Marsh which was amalgamated with Great and Little Kimble in 1885. (8-11)
