Description

AT WINSLOW OR SHIPTON THE ABBOT OF ST ALBANS HAD A BOROUGH WITH A PORTMANMOTE (BOROUGH COURT) IN C13. IN 1279 THERE WERE 10 BURGESSES; ONLY THE MANOR IS SUBSEQUENTLY MENTIONED. SOME OF THE ORIGINAL BURGAGES MAY HAVE STOOD ALONG SHEEP STREET (B1).
