Grade II+. Pedimented alcove of circa 1737, attributed to Kent, decorated like an Italian grotto with coloured pebblework restored by Benjamin Gibbon. Arms of the Temple family with supporters and other decoration (B14).
Programme of trial trenching carried out by Northamptonshire Archaeology in October 2004 established the location and form of former garden paths to the south of the Octagon Lake in the vicinity of the Pebble Alcove. See report for detail (B31).
