Grade I. Circular peripteral Ionic temple on a podium with a stone domed cella rising above the outer cornice. 1730's by Kent (B14).
The National Trust's Survey of Stowe undertaken in 1989 notes that the temple is approached by two flights of steps and that the design is inspired by the Temple of Sybl at Tivoli. It also notes that the temple formally displayed 4 statues of Greek heros said to represent the enlightened ideals of Lord Cobham and his Whig friends (B18).
