VAGUE FEATURES IN FIELD E OF FARM MIGHT REPRESENT SEVERELY PLOUGHED HOUSE PLATFORM ATTACHED TO 1 OF CRANWELL MANORS (B3).
CRANWELL DMV, CLEAR STREET PATTERN ON ST JOSEPH A/P. HOWEVER, LARGE SCALE CULTIVATION HAS NOW TAKEN PLACE. NO IDENTIFIABLE EXTANT EARTHWORKS (B4).

A medieval deserted settlement is visible on remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in small closes immediately N and S of Upper Cranwell Farm and centred at SP 76456 15736, in the field N of the farm are a number of parallel platforms aligned WNW-ESE, two of which contain very small blocks of ridge and furrow cultivation, with a further six being rectangular of various sizes from 29 x14 metres to 57 x 21 metres, being bounded by ditches. In the close S of the farm and centred at SP 76465 15417, there are four further rectilinear platforms, the largest being about 63 x 30 metres, with further boundary ditches and linear ditches, as well as the remains of a possible moat ditch (MBC11125/0416601000) (5).
